I had the honor of creating three illustrations for the Correctiv article “Im Glashaus – Machtmissbrauch und sexuelle Belästigung im EU-Parlament” by Annika Joeres and Gabriela Keller. Their investigative work, unveiled before the EU elections, exposes cases of sexual harassment and bullying within the European Parliament.

The first illustration for the header of the Correctiv website shows a scene in front of the elevator: a person affected had reported that she felt great discomfort at the thought of being in a lift with certain people. I wanted to depict the scene in a particularly threatening way. The colour red also runs through all the illustrations in the article and connects them visually.

The second illustration reimagines the Parliament’s logo as a target, with arrows aimed at a figure in the center. This visual pun serves as a metaphor for individuals being singled out and harassed.

The last illustration of this series highlights a complex, but fragile structure: A house of cards with the EU flag on the back is collapsing. A small person stands against it. Did she bring the house down? Or is she in danger of being crushed?

Many thanks to AD M. Anwar!
