Illustration for Psychologie Heute: „Therapy in old age: Fatal prejudices.“ The prejudice that old people do not need and do not want psychotherapy is not true, says author Eva-Marie Kessler. She defends the opposite: Old people have a high motivation for therapy.
My illustration addresses the complexity of psychotherapy at old age and seeking help despite challenges: An older person finds her way through a labyrinth of life with her therapist’s support. My goal was to depict the difficulties, but not to create an atmosphere of hopelessness. There is help and there is a need for mental health care, no matter what age.
