This illustration was commissioned by Hien Mai and Tim Ellrich for their feature documentary “Mein Vietnam”. The movie shows the very personal migration and life story of the couple Bay and Tam. In this image, I captured a scene in which the protagonists communicate with their family in Vietnam: The funeral of a beloved family member. I wanted to convey a feeling of distance, the blur of digital communication, and memory.
